Tips to Ensure Stress Free Travel
Deciding that you need a holiday is just a part of the process. Most people enjoy looking at the brochures and deciding the perfect spot for them – for some this can be as good as the holiday itself. Choosing to go on a cruise is a good choice for people who want to visit several locations in the ultimate comfort. However, it is still sensible to give a little thought and planning beforehand to ensure travelling is stress free.
Perhaps the most obvious thing to do is plan your cruise and book well enough in advance to bag your chosen cabin. Sometimes, booking ahead can give discounts, but for those willing to take cancellations or last minute deals, again this can cut costs too.
It is very important to check that your documentation is all in order and up to date – preferably a few weeks before your departure. It is also worth checking to see if you`ll need any inoculations or other health related treatments and precautions before you travel – this is a good idea for any holiday, not just for cruises. Your doctor can advise you if you need to have a course of shots and when the timings should be in relation to your holiday dates.
Try to remember that on cruises space is at a premium and many large boat will have boutiques and a spa on board. So try to choose a few classic pieces that all go together and accessorise to suit each occasion. Also bear in mind the likely temperatures – you don`t want to blow all of your spending money on buying an entirely new wardrobe on holiday. If you need to fly to a port then be sure to check with the airline what their policies are on carrying toiletries. Guidelines can be quite strict with regards to what can and cannot be taken and the sizes of the bottles etc. As a rule of thumb a smaller bottle is better and only take what you actually need to use.
If you pack a day or two in advance of your trip then it is less likely you`ll forget something important. You can even make a list if this will help. The night before make sure all you need is by the door, including your documents. Make sure also that you have someone checking on your property if it will be empty. Be sure to get up in plenty of time to do a final check and don`t forget to change any money you need too. Although plastic is fairly international some pocket change can come in handy too.
If you need to fly to your boarding point then allow time for parking and checking in. If you make sure all your transfers are arranged before you leave this should help the process go smoothly. Regardless of which of the many UKairports you pass through you will find a help desk and friendly staff to help you take your first step to the cruise of your choice. Bon Voyage!
